Is there a veg plant where I shouldn't use comfrey tea?
« on: February 14, 2022, 11:18 »
I use a water butt at the top of my garden to avoid walking up and down the steps. If its empty I fill it with a hose. I could put the pillow case with comfrey in it in the butt. is there a plant I should using it on?
Thanks

I reckon you could use it on anything that needs feeding. Make sure you keep it covered as it stinks to high heaven  ::)

I've not found anything it harms as of yet and slop it around over everything except the lettuce. I image they might like it but I couldn't face eating the leaves after  :nowink:

It's a good question, and I've always assumed that you can use it everywhere, but very diluted!

The smell is terrible, and even worse when nettle tea is mixed in with it, but the leeks and winter veg just love the stuff!

Hadn’t thought of using it on winter veg Growster. Now there’s an idea 🤔. I’ll put some in my PSB and caulis.

I say comfrey tea is better on fruiting and flowering crops id use nettle tea on leafy crops think it depends on stages of growth though

Comfrey has roughly the same nutrients as tomato feed ,being fairly high in Potash.  So ,good for anything that flowers or fruits  . I use mine for leafy crops too , as well as liquid seaweed.
