I grew dwarf curly kale by accident and it was rubbish.  Hardly produced any leaves and turned to mush when cooked.  Was definately not worth the effort.  Shame, kale is one of my favourite veggies.

Could I have done something wrong?

I'm writing this on behalf of someone else (who thinks he knows :roll: )

12 weeks after planting....a quarter teaspoon of sulphate of ammonia per plant around the stems and your kale will be 'jack-'n-the-beanstalk quality'............ :roll:  :roll:  :roll:  (sorry Ice)

D'oh, I fed them to the hungry dalek.  I'll try that with some normal sized ones though this year.

First time I sowed some seed of them dwarf things this year, seedlings died in the flood. :roll:

I'm still picking my black kale and the some red and its been great - force feeding it to the family now though as I want the space and feel a bit mean pulling it up when its still doing its thing - will grow it again this year but perhaps not so much.

I was listening to Radio 2 on the way home a few weeks ago and Chris Evans (who doesn't/didn't like Kale) really liked one recipe.

Look down it for 10th January and there's a recipe for "Curly Kale (or cavolo nero) with rosemary and chilli.
