« on: September 23, 2017, 14:52 »
I have bought some mini sweet corn seeds for next year how successful is this variety of sweet corn ? The blurb says they should produce 3-5 mini corn cobs per plant.

This year mine produced 4 or 5, as usual  :)

If you cut off the top tassels so pollination can't happen (grow away from other corn for the same reason) they will grow new cobs til they are so tall I can't reach them any more

Great so do you pick one cob off each plant as they from and another is produced or do they produce several small cobs at the one time?

You can usually (very carefully - or you'll break the stem) twist of 2 at a time from each plant. Obviously they will not be exactly the same size, but that's what I do.
They keep producing more cobs all the time they are growing - your weather should, in theory, give you a better harvest  :)

There's an awful lot of green wrapping to pull off before you get to the small corn cob inside,  though

They are excellent use of space too as you can grow the plants really close together

Yes you can really cram them in - a mini-tornado or something like it did for mine in the end. They were flattened in a circle, like a simple crop circle  ???, when we had the last storm. Really weird  ::)
