Good advice, mum, I have a tendency to buy on impulse then often end up buying again a couple of moths later. Anyone want ten packets of runner beans.

I get most of my seeds in the Wyevale end of season sale, all 50p per packet.

In theory you should check what seed you still have left from this year, so you don't buy packets you don't really need......but at that price it's not a big disaster

I printed out my seed spreadsheet and took it with me to Wyevale last year. It's 8 pages long, so looked like I was stock-taking, but it stopped me buying things I already have!

Yes, there are always end of year sales, and I use this time  to buy things like F1 cucumbers which normally rack up at nearly a fiver per packet of about 5 seeds, or larger seeds like runner beans or peas if you need more for the following season. AS cucumber seeds stay viable for several years, they are never wasted.

This months Kitchen Garden mag has about ten packs of seed with it, which are worth the cover price imho, or you could buy one of John Harrison's books as he sends free seeds too, as well as of course the book being a decent read

Hi,
I have used "premier seeds direct" on ebay for many years, never had any problems. most of their seeds are 99p and are freepost with lots of seeds in each pack. They are DEFRA registered so are very reliable.

Did you keep your receipt and are the packets unopened? If so you could probably take them back - I hate to think of you having spent SUCH a lot of money - then you could try again using some of the many helpful suggestions above, and probably buy even more seeds for a fraction of the price  :D

To be honest I wouldn't spend that much on seeds. Like many others here I will attend end of season sales at Wyevale. I usually buy some from Wilkos and Lidl as well. Rarely do I pay more than a pound a packet. As for lots of differing opinions.........that's gardening for you!!!😏😏😏

I've got a really bad seed habit and have probably spent more than that already this year despite

1) saying I've got loads of seed and don't need any more

2) already ordered plug plants as I won't actually have time to look after lots of tender seedlings

3) there are only 2 of us, how much veg can we eat...?

My name is ptarmigan and I'm a seedaholic.

Are there any seed swaps near to you? They are really good places to pick up a variety of seeds. I've got a carrier bag of packets I don't want and am taking them with me to one in Carshalton on Friday. Hopefully I won't be bringing new ones home with me...
