I saw your diary.  I would stick to posting progress reports in there as otherwise you will have 2 lots of conversations going at once.  The diaries are enjoyed and well read by forum members  :)

Looks a good one to me, a few weekends clearing up and a skip should sort it out. As for nutrients it should be fine after the chickens. Turn it over now roughly and leave the winter and the worms work it in. Early spring give it a better dig and plant away

Why not ask the chap if he would like to share the plot if he is not going to be able to manage it. At least you then have a foot in the door.

I shared my plot with a 90 year old for two years, I think he was checking me out before handing over his pride and joy.

Looks like you've got a bit of cleaning up to do. Take it steady, don't rush into it and burn out either physically or mentally.

Plant a few squash or pumpkin plants, so if you aren't able to clear/dig/rotavate in time. You can dig several 3x3ft areas and plant a pumpkin seedling in each one. That way you can utilise the weedy ground without having to remove weeds or rotavate that spot until next year.
