Silver grey veins on brassicas
« on: July 28, 2015, 08:47 »
Hi all,
I am a new member and have just started on an allotment.
My question is my cauliflowers, courgettes and broccoli all have or have had silver grey mottling to their leaves.other allotment holders said it may be due to hailstones however problem persisted so I sprayed them with insecticide which helped but didn't cure it.the crops have been fine.any help would be gratefully received.

Welcome to the site  :)

On the courgettes, it may well be powdery mildew - pretty normal.  You can chop off the affected leaves when they get bad, but insecticide won't make a difference.  Courgettes aren't brassicas, by the way

NB I assume you checked that the insecticide was safe for use on edible plants before use?

I'm not sure what it might be on the cauli / broccoli.  Have you got any pictures?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

A picture would help to identify the problem
