I need to have another go too GA, mine were sown 3 weeks ago. The radishes alongside are up and happy, but not a peep from the parsnips.

Do you need some too ? Mind you I need to check if mine have germinated

I never sow mine before May.  They don't germinate for me before then.

I've got some ill send you Grannie, opened this year, been in the fridge since I bought them. I'd bought a huge packet from Moles seeds at a show, I could have done my whole plot with them  pm me your address if you want some.

Awwww Snowy, thank you!  I'll pm you my addy!  Anything you want in exchange?

I usually sow mine, late March or during April, but never this late before.  I usually have a pretty good germination too.  Can't understand it this year, mind you, all my carrot seed is fresh this year, they were also sowed just before I went to Kent, and they are only just peeking through now!    :(

Must get more carrots in too.

I certainly hope it's not too late as I sowed mine last night. I chitted some on damp kitchen paper in a tub on the windowsill about 6 weeks ago, but I forgot about them and only notice them last weekend. Suffice to say it was not a pleasant site.

Ooooh Simon, are they okay to plant still?

I chitted the rest of my parsnips 2 days ago, but not showing anything, but I also did it to the old beetroot seeds, and half of them have chitted  :) :)

4 weeks is not at all unusual in less than perfect conditions - you could try re-sowing next to the existing rows to hedge your bets if you've not got acres of spare space to play around with.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

I (like everyone else) always find parsnip germination to be somewhat unpredictable. This year I chitted 3 year old seed and got 100% germination and now have twice as many parsnip seeds in the ground than planned.

I don't like parsnips just plain boiled, but as I'm trying to keep the weight down, I roast mine in frylight, not as nice as goose fat, but better than boiled!  :) :)
