Hi,
Anyone here grow their own mushrooms? Is it worthwhile, and how do you do it?
We tend to use mushrooms regularly in our cooking, usually just button mushrooms.
If I got a kit of some kind, could I keep it going in some way myself without having to buy kit after kit every few weeks/months?

i am trying with poor success at the moment.

it seems that if you have the perfect environment naturally then it's easy, but very hard to create ideal growing conditions. they only seem to grow when conditions are perfect.

at the moment i am using a kit that you grow in newspaper. i seem to have plenty of myselin but no sign of a crop yet.

Three times I have tried and failed, have given up now.
Two times was boxes from Wilko and each time I got one large mushroom, the other time I got mycelium from T&M and did all the damp compost thing, got nothing at all that time.
As 3759allen said you have to have the right conditions and I obviously don't.[/size]
