Small light green things in my chilly plants!!! Help
« on: January 11, 2015, 22:44 »
Hello all!

I have been growing some chilly plants this year which are now inside my room (as it is freezing outside). When they were really small (as we grew them from seeds), they had some small green things infected on it. We tapped them and killed them all.... That time, it was outside in my balcony.
Now the plants are really big and those green things are again there. These insects are in stems (in some parts but are ard 20- 50 in one place) and also in some leaves. The leaves gets really weak and falls down but the color does not change so much. I am cleaning the stems and leaves with a tissue paper time to time but it comes back all the time. I tried to take picture but my camera resolution is not good enough to see them clearly. They are light green in color... little bit round and looks like filled with water inside it!!!
I would be really glad if someone can suggest me a simple solution... preferably something that is available in home!!!

I also have some flowers in my room and am scared that it will also be infected... is it possible?

thank you
Bini

They are aphids. I squash them daily on my chilli plants. You can spray them with soapy water. I don't use anything stronger, but others might have recommendations for sprays.

Firstly your chilly plants need a scarf - it is winter, you know!  :D

I've had these - sorry to say I've forgotten what they are called. I'll kick myself when someone else comes along and says what they are... As mine were not fruiting I used a proprietary bug-clear spray and I have also used Neem oil which got rid of them.

Aphids! Thanks, Surbie!

Thank you Surbie and Kevin,

I will them keep on killing with tissue for now! and will try soap water this weekend!
About neem oil, I have to search in the market... I guess it should be available :)
Surprisingly, they are still giving me some chilli (but really few) ...

Will write later if something works!

Don't forget to give them a dilute feed bini, as this will help them carry on flowering. I still have some going strong too  :D

After trying all sorts I now use S B Plant Invigorator http://www.sbproducts.co.uk/ on practically everything, for practically everything. It really does what it says on the tin. It feeds at the same time. It goes a long way - I am just down to the end of my first bottle and I can't remember how many years ago I bought it. It also comes ready mixed if you don't have much to do.
