Dock Leaf Tea / Nutrient Value
« on: May 30, 2014, 13:05 »
Anyone know how useful dock leaves are as a tea? I tend to throw a bunch in with my nettle brew but I was wondering if they add more than other weeds (that also sometimes get chucked in).

They have pretty deep roots so do they 'tap' into nutrients a little like comfrey does?
I'm guessing that as there doesn't seem to be anyone writing about the wonders of their dock tea that there isn't that much goodness in them...

Cheers,
Balders

Interesting - apparently, dock leaves used to do more than neutralize nettle stings according to wikipedia   Follow the link, and there is a table of nutrients in edible dock leaves.  Not much protein in the raw leaves so nitrogen will be low, but it does contain a few other minerals such as magnesium which potentially could be useful.
