Box hedging sorted
« on: May 01, 2014, 14:30 »
I hope I haven't spoken too soon, but for some years I have struggled to get a decent box hedge to grow around certain garden boundary areas. I bought the variety "Suffruticosa" as they are a dwarf plant, but they didn't do well at all and lots died. As replacements, I got some more box from B&Do-dahs but didn't realise they were a different variety. These have a slightly different leaf shape and are more grey-green in colour, and have been far more successful. I took many cuttings from them and now have a lovely hedge, though there is one area which tends to get a bit water-logged in winter despite adding grit, but with a bit of feed, seem ok to date. Just a thought if you are struggling to get one to grow well. They do grow taller but trim ok.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.
