Hi,
I understand that seaweed is a very good fertiliser for potatoes.
What's the best way of administering it? I was thinking of laying it at the botom of the trench as a base. Is this OK?

it's not going to hurt the plants anyway. I line my trench with compost and comfrey as that's what I have available. Wish I lived closer to the coast.

just put it in the trenches, or use as mulch - as they used to do in Jersey.

Can also be grown in neat seaweed according to this

I tried getting in touch with my local authority. First they thought I was going to eat it, and advised against it because of pollution concerns. Then when I corrected them, they didn't bother to get back to me on the legality

This might just be me, but I've never liked the taste of Jersey new potatoes... they just seem to have a bitter after-taste. Much prefer our local Lancashire new potatoes, grown without seaweed!
