I have been given 28 packets of seeds from a mate of my hubby's
9 of which are tomatoes. Here is a list of them all

Black cherry
Garden Perelman
Roma
Rio Grande
Maskotta
Yellow stuffer heritage

Also
Marketmore cucumber
Crystal Lemon cucumber
Cucamelon
Beetroot boltardy
Radish French breakfast
All year round Lettuce
May queen lettuce
Little gem lettuce
Pakistan choi
Early Nantes carrot
Autumn king carrots
Amsterdam forcing carrots
Health master carrots x2
Best of all swede
Black beauty courgette
Autumn crown winter squash x2
Vegetable spaghetti squash x2

Anyone grown any of these and what did you think of them?

Moneymaker - If it's your first time growing tomatoes, you think they're good compared to supermarket ones, until you progress onto other varieties. Give them a miss and save yourself a year!

Black cherry are delicious and I grow them every year.

As for the others, if I grew no other variety, I would grow these:

Marketmore cucumber (Outdoors)
Beetroot boltardy
Radish French breakfast
Little gem lettuce
Early Nantes carrot
Autumn king carrots

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I grew moneymaker a few years back and thought they were very tasteless so won't be growing them. Grew Ferline last year which were ok may just give a few a go and see what they are like.

Not fond of any sort of beetroot myself, but otherwise agree with DD's selection - Little Gem is a great little lettuce and will put up with being initially overcrowded and then thinned and transplanted in stages, giving you an extended crop of lettuces from just one sowing.

I find French Breakfast radish less likely to fail to bulk up than others, although in recent years I've also done very well with packets of mixed radishes (globe, long, white, yellow and red), presumably because you increase the chances of at least some of them being happy with the conditions at the time.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

Ooh Lucky you  :D

I grow Black Cherry every year - and also Rio Grande. They are big plum tomatoes for making sauces  ;)
Is Garden Perelman actually Garden Pearl? This is a good small shrubby variety for pots/tubs or hanging baskets, also grown here.

Of the other seeds, I'd use ;)
Crystal Lemon cucumber good for growing outdoors.
Cucamelon (I'm trying these this year, after good reports from others on here)
Little gem lettuce
Black beauty courgette
Autumn crown winter squash x2

Yellow stuffer tomatoes are only good if you like cooking tomatoes, they have very thick skins so are good for stuffing but not good for eating straight off the vine.

Seconded on all the seeds others have voted for. Plus, I've tried a few different courgettes but went back last year to the first I ever grew, Black Beauty, as good for taste, texture and productivity.

Someone gave me a crystal apple cucumber last year and I was converted!
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
