i have some cows muck spread over a bit of the allotment its about 6ft wide by 15ft long andabout a ft deep,,can i plant my marrows strait into it,,or will it be too strong..its 3yrs old by the way     ty all

Lucky you micks. They should do well. I planted some a couple of years ago directly into a horse muck pile. A lot of that was still quite fresh. I had a fantastic crop. The only difference I found was that the flesh was far less watery than usual. Even though I gave them a regular soaking.

The "Experts" say that you should dig a hole 18x18x18 and fill with manure. Put all the soil from the hole back on top of the manure to form a mound. Plant at the top of the mound.

I find by far the easiest method is to plant courgettes and forget about them.

(Before you shout - I know that a proper marrow has a thicker skin and is better for storing).
