Sorry Ma - with her connected to her ventilator I would love to listen to Cuckoos or birds in the morning but it's like sleeping next to Darth Vader which I can cope with at night but not in the morning if it's 5:00 then I may as well get up.

Different routine this morning. OH gone off to do a bit of casual labour (in these temps...mid 30s...he's welcome) so have some tomato and apple chutney on the go (last year's bottled toms, last year's stewed apple) and some rhubarb and ginger jam, made the bee syrup, mixed two lots of bread dough and having coffee before picking yet more broad beans and anything else I can find.

Bleary good morning to all....it's just before 2 here and I have come down as it is windy which means the old dog things it's going to get stormy and is stressed, we rarely get wind, Added to that it's 26 degrees in the bedroom even with all the windows open so hard to sleep anyway, but she was keeping OH awake and he needs to sleep as he's working today.

Bless her, she's much calmer now.

Morning from cloudy Leicestershire. We too had rain overnight, so I might go & weed the parsnips & carrots in a bit.
A woman's place is in her garden.

Well, I have had a productive morning, picked probably the last big pick of broad beans, sorted into size, blanched and frozen apart from the bigger ones which are skinned and in a bean salad with sliced borlotti beans, the first of the French beans, some pea stragglers, baby carrots and spring onion in honey mustard dressing.

Done some weeding and tied up and de-suckered the fifty or so tomatoes. Picked a load of courgettes and sorted them into chicken pile and in-the-fridge-till-I-decide-what-to-do pile.

I think I need a snooze after Saturday Kitchen

So it's fathers day Ive been up for 1/2 hour and finished breakfast and this Father wants to be at the allotment but,

Its fathers day and I have to wait for my daughter to wake up and give me my card and present.

Then the wife will want to go and take flowers to the cemetery, But it's fathers day......

Wouldn't it be good if you had a day when you could just do what you wanted without upsetting anyone or getting in trouble with the wife?

What would we call it I wonder, especially if you were a man and a father lets say ?

This father has hinted that the best fathers day present would be a day on his allotment with daughters helping .... is that likely to happen, I very much doubt it as one is away on holiday with her mate in Dorset  ::)
