Mine are always eaten by pesky voles, so I multi sow mine in modules and plant out once they are a few inches tall. They went in this morning  :D

ill be putting mine in next week - inside in some old guttering. Mice cant get them and easy to transfer into the ground once its warm enough and the plants are established. Failsafe for me.

My feelings are similar to mumofstig - can always use a bit of fleece round guttering or seed trays to protect from frosts to get things going.

Me too.  In Guttering, and I cut the bottom of a couple of 2 ltr pop bottles as a mini cloche and slide the guttering into it (take both ends off a few middle ones  and stack them/make it as long as the guttering) keeps the mice out and the seed from the cold.

Won't even be getting round to turning the soil till next week, that if we have some more decent weather. If your soil is still wet, don't bother.

Do you lie the guttering on the ground where you will slide out the peas or do they have to be sheltered or anything please?  I'd like to try this and I have a bit of guttering about the same width as my raised bed

I sowed my peas in root trainers last year with excellent results. Put 4/5 seeds into each cell, planted out when 2 inches high spaced at 6 inches per cell. Root systems superb. Simply formed a shallow trench, placed cell contents propped against one side, pushed soil back in and firmed it with a boot.

Hi jacky i grow peas in gutter in polytunnel when they are 6-8inch i open a trench, put end of gutter at start of trench tilt upward at same time moving along tapping gutter underneath so it slides into trench so no disturbing the root system then water in,simples lol so easy this way  it saves a lot of faffing about transplanting, hope this helps.Darren
