My Kral parsnip seeds have arrived from USA!

Although after ordering them I happened to find Hamburg Parsley in a book and thought hmmm that looks and sounds rather similar... well only one way to find out! (which seems to be becoming my gardening motto. I think I will make my first ever forum signature.)

They are supposed to be a parsnip that has "beet" or "turnip" shaped roots making for easier harvesting, but they are also described as being white fleshed with a nutty, parsley like flavour, which sounds kinda un-parsniplike. If anyone has grown Hamburg Parsley, are the seeds flat like parsnip or shinny like parsley, and what do the leaves look like? More like parsley? I'm just looking forward to see how these turn out!

I grew root parsley (from Real Seeds) last year - can't remember definitely about seeds but am sure they're not 'parsnip like' but the leaves are very definitely 'parsley like'.

I grew Hamburg Parsley a couple of years back, and the leaves were like a darker green, slightly coarser parsley, not like parsnip really, as Mr Dog found too.

The roots were white, like small parsnips, and had a vaguely parsnippy flavour. I roasted them.

Not as good as real parsnips imho but worth a go as you may really like them.... tasted do differ

I think Kral is really just a Parsnip that is round, never heard anyone describe them to taste any other way! Think Root Parsley is a different beast.
