Seeds Just Arrived
« on: November 25, 2008, 19:41 »
Thanks to whoever mentioned Alan Romans in a previous thread, my order arrived today, 19 packets of various delights for a bargain £15.  The only extra's I'll need will be my pots and onion sets and they are on order down the lottie.

I really shouldn't be this excited at my age, but I am

Anyway, where's the best place to store my precious seeds?  Will they be OK stored in my shed, do they need particular conditions?  I could look it up but there so many knowledgable peeps here this is much easier  :D

I'd say anywhere dry and cool - if your shed is prone to damp, or freezing, I'd avoid it.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Keep them in a box - snails have eaten quite a lot of the packets in my shed.
I keep my main store in a cardboard box in the sitting room so I can look at them from time to time...
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Beware of mice. Cardboard box no good.

Alan Titchmarsh always advised to put the in a tuppaware box and keep them in the veg section of the fridge.

Yep the fridge in a Tupperware is best

Mine are in a cold cupboard now as my husband kept chucking them out the  fridge to make room for his lager      Grounds for divorce I reckon

I'd had to move the food out of the fridge & Mrs Digger won't stand for it, so I'd be looking for a new home. (You do B & B don't you CQ?).

Airtight tin in the pantry has never let me down.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
