I just couldn't wait to tell someone (that would be interested at least lol)
After almost 3 years on the list  we went to see 3 plots that were on offer in the allotments that are based behind our garden fence. The plot we have chosen is just one plot away from our fence so we will be looking at putting a gate for easy access (after having a word with the plot owner of course about access).
The sad thing about the plot we have is that it was owned by a neighbour who had apparently passed away early January. We were shocked to hear the gentleman showing us the plot telling us this  as we hadn't heard anything, not that we knew him really we just knew of him. Its a bitter sweet joy at getting a plot, well its actually half a plot, but we couldn't ask for a better plot as this gentleman has been on this allotment site since he was 25 and he was 93 when he passed away. He had been on this particular plot for at least the last 10-15 years and had been there in the months before Christmas as there is veg still on his plot.  I hope we can do him proud and grow our veg as good as he must have.

We are so excited to get started and if the weather is ok on Sunday we will have our first day on the allotment

It is Mum just need this weather to play ball now. I have to say though we don't have too much to do on this plot other than tidy it. We are extremely lucky just can't wait to get on it now

Congrats! I know it can feel a little weird to get one that way. The person I took over from had died very young from cancer. But it is nice to know that it was cared for and gave a lot of joy.

Hope you get a yes to the gate, that would be about perfect! And remember, we want pictures!

great news, especially being so close to your garden. and a great bonus being the ground should be good, no need to remove weeds, junk and debris or having to add large amounts of organic matter.

i'm sure the previous owner will be glad to see that it's going to well used and maintained and not left to become a jungle.

Sorry to hear of the circumstances but 93 is a good age and I'm sure he would be glad that it went to someone who appreciated his hard work and care. Taking over his plot and knowing its history means you'll probably honour his memory long after his passing.

Not to worry...the joys of spring and summer will soon be upon us! I waited nearly 3 years for my plot too. Absolutely love it. I'm sure you will too, especially being so near to you!
