Fleeced up the runners and courgettes in case of frost.
Earthed up the spuds.
Weeded strawberries and mulched with straw.

First proper weeding of the brassicas. Tried to readjust their hooped netting and gave up. I think I'm going to go down the route of a timber batten frame. Said I never would. I really don't want my plot to look like a prison camp.

Congratulated myself on the lovely foxgloves. Forget-me-nots are almost over already !

Planted out PSB, late brussels and globe artichoke.  Weeded the shallots.  sowed carrots, salsify and scorzonera.  Had a beer

Serviced mower, Mowed the grass and strimmed both the allotments planted out sprouts and more lettuce ,spot of weeding watering gh's and pt, picked some radish netted peas,will do beans tomorrow fleeced french and runner beans earthed up spuds took some more spring onions,busy day

Went to the lottie after work and found that the fleece covered potatoes had got frostbite! Just my luck! Will have to make a better job of it next time

Planted some sweet and chilli peppers in the polytunnel.  Took the sweetcorn to reside in the polytunnel until planting out time.  Dug over new bed on daughter's plot and harvested some pink fir apple potatoes in the process (!).  Planted out Yellow Rynsberger onions and Zebrune shallots.   Picked PSB and some spring onions.

OH trimmed the hedge, fixed new catch on daughter's plot gate, took some unwanted construction materials mainly wood down to the shared recycling plot, and did a bit of preparatory construction work for the new big polytunnel.

So, quite busy really.

Double dug an area about 5m x 3m, still at least 10m x 3m to go but working my way through it all. Then came home via the garden centre and bark-chipped the new bench area and got the bench put in, filled a small raised bed I have with topsoil, planted peas & rocket / lambs lettuce.

Erected this bargain buy sweet pea frame, which when assembled looked as if it would blow over in the lightest wind,  So I took it down again and put up an old fashioned wigwam.  Much sturdier.
The bits of the frame will come in useful for something I'm sure.

Perfect digging and weeding conditions, so I dug and weeded all those avoided areas that make the growing area bigger. Still didn't find a place for my surplus brassicas.
Last earth up of potatoes. Watched the bees and insects doing their thing.

Earthed up the potatoes and made sure they was completely covered, so if there is another frost, they should be fine!!!!

Put the roof on the fruit cage (actually easier than I was expecting). Split up and planted out one of those boxes of living salad as a start to my lettuce bed - ones from seed are still very small! Decided to cover the bed in netting to stop those pesky birds.

Made some nettle tea and then finally tidied and helped to guide the bramble onto it's wire supports.

Tomorrow's job will be to finish sieving the area for the parsnips and get them sown and clear out some more jungle area.
