Ey up fellow gardeners, can anybody tell me  all about if/how i can take cuttings or suckers from tayberry,is it easy? and what variety would be best, tia darren

Not sure about varieties, I only ever seen them listed as 'Tayberry' . Propagate by burying the tip of a cane in the soil and weighting it down with a brick. Only works when the cane is growing in summer. You can separate in the autumn and replant where you need it.

hi, thanks nobbie seems pretty straight foreward i was hoping they might be like raspberry canes so i could get them going now and have fruit next year :unsure:.so can i dig an established plant up and replant,would it fruit the same year? :)thanks .darren

Yes you can do cuttings from them TayBerries no probs..  Take cuttings now, place them in a pot of propagating mix or some compost mixed with builders type sand and leave them in the greenhouse till Spring when they will shoot into life. Plant out next Spring. You wont get fruit same year!!

The plants that grow from cuttings or tip propagation may not actually flower next year, as much of the flowering growth for next year has already developed.

Worth the wait though  :)
