I planted garlic in may when do I harvest it . or have I planted it on the wrong month.

Planted it to late as far as I am aware garlic needs a couple of weeks of cold temperatures for the bulb to form gloves. You will probably find if you harvest the bulb it will be whole. You could still us it as wet garlic rather than drying.

Hi Waliz - Im afraid it was too late but you may get a single bulb - and hey it will be edible.. A big portion of my maincrop last year only got to single bulb size, so I dried them, ate some and then planted some end of September - I got a beautiful crop from them and no difference from the lot I grew from normal cloves.  Some of the biggest garlic I've ever grown!!

The problem is that Garden Centres dupe people into buying garlic and other stuff in out of planting date times just by still having them in their stocks for sale... they should be more aware of planting dates and then remove from the shelves if over the time limit... but they just want sales and dont worry about the poor people who buy them in good faith and dont get a crop.. In saying that some garlic like Solent Whight can be planted in March/April so May is still a bit late..

Keep watching this forum for when the rest of us will be planting ours. I do mine in late Sept because I can get it done before very cold weather sets in, others do theirs in Oct or Nov.
