White Eggs AND Lice
« on: December 30, 2007, 19:01 »
At last our leghorn has begun to lay. She is the last of our four hennies to begin, but we have had 2 lovely white eggs from her. The excitement has made up for the horrid creepy crawlies I found on our bantam yesterday.

Its a great feeling when you collect your eggs from your chicken and bring them into the kitchen. You sit there looking at them in the egg rack thinking " I've done it, I'm nearly a farmer now" I still get a thrill collecting eggs after years and years and then even a few more years.

As for a few lice ? its no great deal and it certainly isn't the end of the world. As has been described on here many times before, they are easy peasey to get rid of and a few certainly wont hurt you or the birds. You may find yourself scratching a little in sympathy but thats only to be expected.

Itchy itchy !
