Blackcurrent jelly jam Q
« on: July 13, 2013, 09:23 »
Im about to make this yrs batch of blackcurrant jam , our favourite jam i think  :)

Anyway on a lovely day like this i really cant be bothered to top and tale thousands of currents, so im going to wash and boil them (with just a little water) and then pass through a sieve. This is probably a silly question but i just need to check before i use up the bulk of my blackcurrants.... But do i weigh the juice and add the same amount of sugar to that weight, and then boil as normal for jam?

hope im doing the right thing here, and just not taking the lazy option lol.

Cheers MW.
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

I would use 1/2 pt of water per 1lb of fruit and strain through a jellybag overnight . then it's a pound of sugar to a pint of liquid  :)
I cook therefore I grow
