Selling veg.

You get excess broad beans?    My OH eats as many as I grow, as he loves them!  It's not often I get to freeze any for him!   

Dugless if you have grown 200 broad bean plants they can't all  be for you and your family so wouldn't be deemed as surplus by the man from the Revenue. Take care as you don't want to mix it with the tax man.  Only sell stuff that is genuinely surplus. Otherwise it becomes a business and that is a whole new ball game 

Hello fellow gardeners. I need to do a bit of brain picking  :blink:,

I brought spuds, leeks, turnips and lettuce home today for OH to sell on the front.  Most of my veg goes to the church to raise money for the homeless, meat and desserts.  She does a lot of voluntary work for the local church, cooking for the homeless on Tuesdays, boys brigade on Thurs. 

So along comes some noisy member of the public shouting have you got a licence to sell that.  She says no, half hour later 2 council people turn up take photos and my number and said they phone back to let me know what's going on.  Am I allowed to do this, after all the council doesn't do anything for the homeless really. 

Everything OH does is voluntary for the church.   All the veg is excess produce I can't use myself.  Does anyone know the facts of selling excess allotment veg.  Thanks Darren
