Redcurranrt bush - is it a gonner?
« on: June 04, 2013, 10:17 »
Hi gang!  :)  A couple of weeks ago I took delivery of a redcurrant bush.  I gave it a good soaking and potted it up with some bone meal.  It's only about 10" high and has a few small, brownish buds on it.  Anyway, nothing has happened yet.  Am I being impatient or should there have been some movement by now?

Mine are fully leaved up and fruiting. Would have thought a bit more life could have been expected but if it has buds it must be alive

Maybe ignore it for a few days and see, I am sure I watch my plants so intensely they stop growing on purpose.  ::)  I expect some of my bits to grow as fast as courgettes fruit.

My redcurrant that I planted last year was almost a month and half behind my other fruit bushes when it came to signs of life. Maybe some varieties are just slow developers?
