My mum wants me to grow celeric this season. She fancies it mashed seen it on TV. Do I have to do any special prep ?

As you'll see from the link, it's rather late to be sowing it now, it should have been sown 2 months ago. It requires quite a long growing season.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

It is definately too late to sow it for this year but you can get trays of celeriac plants in lots of the garden centres. I got some from Sainsburys Homebase one year when I got some dodgy seeds and didn't have enough time to re sow.

I have also seen them in othe garden centres too.

Before I plant mine out I shall be digging in a large amount of well rotted compost, as celeriac likes damp conditions.

A good soak at least weekly (twice or three times id the weather is very hot and dry) will keep it going then.
