Hello

I have started some climbing french beans, runner beans and sweet peas indoors to eventually end up at the allotment.  I sowed them in biodegradable tall tubes 4 weeks ago and their roots are already escaping out of the bottom!  Will these be ok left as they are until it is the right time to plant them out?

the sweet peas can be hardened off and planted out now 

The beans are a bit early - you may be better off to start again, as they will get tall if left for another few weeks. I'm only just thinking about sowing mine ............................

Thanks, i was too eager for my own good sowing them early! Have got plenty to start again with.

Bio-degradable pots are like root trainers. Any roots that come out of the bottom or side are air pruned (dry up at the ends) and the plant is encouraged to grow a more branched root system.

Only restart if the size of plants is getting unmanagable. You could pinch the tops out.
