Have I killed another crown?

The largest of my rhubarb crowns was here. There's no sign of life.

What is it with my and rhubarb ? Ok it's a little weedy up there but rhubarb is supposed to be indestructible !

Don't panic yet, one of ours is huge the other one has only just showed it's face in the last two days. I was beginning to think someone had borrowed it  :unsure:

I don't know the variety, I did once upon a time but I have had babies since then. Brain mould has set in.

Shouldda gone to Spec-Savers... its there top right  :D  :D  :D
Now a member of the 10 Ton club.... 2013  harvested 588 Kg from 165 sq mt..

It's there, right in the middle of the picture. You can see the dry top of the crown. I'd give it a bit longer, one of mine looked like that for weeks this year, then suddenly erupted.

That's another crown  ::) I planted about a dozen I think.

The missing one is centre page but the nettles  ;) As pdblake says you can see the top of the crown but it's dry and lifeless. I thought the drop of rain we've had today would have woken it up but still no change.

Nice collection of weeds though  ;)

I have 3t of soil to dig up and move ... can you guess where Im planning on dumping it.

There are various diseases that attack the supposedly invincible rhubarb. Have a bit of a dig and see if the roots are soft and whether there are any signs of life. One disease is violet root rot, the surface of the roots is covered with a violet layer of soft fungus.
