Was researching fertilisers and came across this article http://www.theecologist.org/green_green_living/gardening/605742/urine_the_ultimate_organic_fertiliser.html saying you can use diluted urine to fertilise plants.

What does everyone think? Should I try it? and if I do, presumably this is a high-nitrogen fertiliser so not suitable for all veg?

We used to put our pee into the compost bin and then over time spread it over the plot, so I should imagine it would be fine....just not neat!

Bob Flowerdew uses it diluted as a fertiliser.
In his books it's always called 'personal liquid waste'   

As already said it's a good compost heap activator as well

We used to put our pee into the compost bin and then over time spread it over the plot, so I should imagine it would be fine....just not neat! 

I used to try to get Brian to piddle on the compost heap, but he won't do it!

Also supposed to be good to pee around your plot or garden to scare off foxes!

At the plot I pee in a bucket(in the shed with the door shut ) then tip it on the compost bin. My plot neighbour collects it at home sometimes & then adds it to her compost bin at home or the plot-not all of it though

I used to pour it on the compost heap, but recently have started to see if it will work neat as a week killer. It seems to have turned a small patch of grass yellow, but has had no effect on creeping buttercup yet. Trouble is I can't get much of it!

I have a battle to discourage my four year old chap from peeing in the compost heap after once telling him it was OK in emergencies - now every one is an emergency!

If you are on medication you will lose your organic status.

Bear it in mind that 'THE PILL' and other hormone treatment may not be beneficial to other family members !

Apart from that it is a traceable homebrew fertiliser

I do it all the time and swear by it. I go in the watering can and then top it up with water. I would suggest trying it in a small patch if lawn for a couple of weeks and I'm sure the difference will be obvious!

Also in the back of miracle grow one of the ingredients is ureic nitrogen!

Just don't let anyone spot you!

Yes - both neat on the compost and dilute as a fertiliser.

Well - we wash the veg before eating don't we!

yer no problem use it on the heap all the time ...

Mixed with wood ash it makes a really good NPK general fertilizer which is used extensively in developing countries. As a liquid fertilizer it's best used fresh as it really pongs when it starts to decompose and also probably best not to use on salad crops!!

Think i read lady water was best somewhere.. Not sure my heap can tell the difference ..
