I can forgive them the side effects and even the fact to me they taste like dirty washing up water. What I can't forgive them for is not going away ! It seems every little bit i chop with a spade or snap produces pounds of the wretched things.

The only other thing In the garden like that is bindweed and even that gave up last season.

I love them too......will be looking to get some  :D :D

If postage wasn't so stupid - I'll put this lot in a box and send them to you !

They do make good eating, either roasted, soup or puree, which seems a popular cheffy way of cooking them. If you plant too many you will end up with a surfeit but that's true of any veg, cept for asparagus maybe.    If you grow to cook don't dismiss these healthy, tasty veg.  I think some growers don't realise their veg's potential as they don't use them to best advantage in the kitchen.

You only have to plant a few - to be forever digging them out in later years, when you don't want them, as Lardman found out   ::)

It's true ... I only planted 5 tubers from Wilko's .

hope mine do so well that I get fed up with them hoping to use them like potatoes

Im sure you'll have masses. If I can get this sort of yield actively trying to kill them, I shudder to think what will happen if you actually look after them.

Don't say I didn't warn you when you wake in a cold sweat a few years from now fearing what lurks beneath your plot

I'm going to plant a row of them along the north boundary of my plot to act as a shield from the nosey public.

I like their taste - nutty love adding a few to potato/root veg gratins

I'm surprised you didn't cut the plant down as soon as you saw it
