Yes.

Due to other factors I've planted in May & June and still had a sucessful crop. Just don't expect then to crop in those months!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I was hoping to put one row of first in this weekend
but it rained all day yesterday and there is slush on the cars this morning

Like others have said, they can stay in the trays for now.

Following this thread with interest, but my potatoes are quite happy chitting slowly, so they can wait until it warms up a fraction and all you guys say NOW!

I'm on a quick learning curve as it's my first year with a patch. but i've put 1/4 of my earlies in the poly tunnel, that during the past week or so is warm enough i think.

i put 2 layers of carpet over the ground to plant the rest of the earlies in, for a couple of days. then planted the rest of the earlies and put the carpet back over, been in a week now. i will be removing the carpet during sunny days and covering over again at nights.

i won't be able to say how it's turned out for a couple of months but fingers crossed.

I too am going to hold off for another week or so as the weather forecast isn't looking too great. I'm sure last year I didn't plant till sometime in May, so plenty time yet.

I have been putting mine in around now in past years, but the soil is still too cold and wet here.

I planted a load of new spuds in my tunnel, under fleece, back in February. Today I saw the first shoots coming up. I do love seeing the first veggies showing signs of life in spring :)

I've booked a week off at Easter, so as long as I get a dry day they'll be going in then, though I might leave it until the back end of the week :D

Forgot to say that my plot is pretty free draining, loamy stuff. The spuds intended for the clay soil in the garden will be waiting a while longer yet.

I'm reading this thread with interest.

I can't wait to get my potatoes planted or indeed harvest some lovely early potatoes  ;)

However the ground is wet as wet can be so I'm going to be govened by when the ground is dry enough to finish digging over and getting them in (pretty much restricted to weekends, but as the year progresses and the evenings get lighter I could get something done in the evenings).  You never know it might dry and warm up sometime soon (afterh the 10th April of course...)

Wasn't going to do bags again this year due to the cost and amout of compost, but I'm started to feel tempted - so I can start earlier ;)

Cover the ground with fleece until the easter, then plant the spuds and cover the ground again with fleece until they start to appear, by that time the weather should be warmer and your spuds will be kept warm in the meantime.  ;)

No chance of getting them in until the end of the month here!

So there are nine earlies in various big pots in the greenhouse for starters, and then when the rest eventually go in on The Patch, they'll all have cloches!
