Well, Iveinvested in a funky grow light and imtrying to grow soe cauliflower seeds which are now about 2 to 3 inches tall.

The problem is the leaves are startingto turn a patchy yellow colour.

I only have them in MPC and some vermiculite/perlite mix but kim not sure if the yellow patcxhes are normal or because they are to close to the grow light. Only about 12" away.

Would love to grow them but they seem a bit fussy. Also tried last year and they were doing well and then just all died!!!!

Any exert cauli growers out there?

I would love to grow caulis - failed 3 years in a row and gave up after that!
Too much heat is bad for brassicas - I think that's why my first lot failed last year.

Maybe you're being over-attentive to them!

You're killing them with kindness.

Mine are thriving in an only just frost free greenhouse.

Just get them somewhere away from warmth, but light and frost free.

That's all they ask for.

I can remember living in our first flat - I used to sing to the seeds as I planted them!

Nothing wrong with talking to plants - I name my toms every year so I can praise them if they're good!

What is the reason for trying to grow caulis under lights then. Early peppers and toms etc etc I can understand. But most caulis are time of year dependant as far as I know. Better off sowing them when that varieties packet recommends, give them all the suns rays at that time of year and keep the frost off. Apart from that, leave them alone.

You could put your light to use for other plants - could bring early toms on if you heat your greenhouse as well.

You could experiment with quite tropical type plants - that would be interesting.

Ive actually got 3 LED grow lights,quite high power too.
Tomatoes are aready under them along with lots of other stuff.

They seem to be producing very strong plants, tomato plants are lookig very good.

I actualy run them off solar and batteries soi can afford t run them all year round if i have to.
Only problem is the back bedroom smells of a green house and its about 76 degrees

One of our committee members discovered that his next door neighbour had set up a lot of lights for growing plants. The trouble was.................... they weren't veg plants. Cue a full scale police raid.

Not quite.

Your other problem is that you're trying to grow stuff not suited to these conditions.

Always read the seed packet!
