 (i took these photos today - they are not a 'before and after' thing)

i think i might have posted this query on here before but my 'white' hen is getting browner and browner; when we got her in march/april this year she was pretty much all white apart from the speckly bits but now she's getting decidedly brown

is this normal for a white hen to do? will she stay this colour or go back to white in the next moult? (it doesn't matter what colour she is but it intrigues me)

I kid you not, these two pictures are of the same bird.
He completely changed colour from one moult to the next.

It is weird isn't it?  Most of my site chicks are going browner while they are moulting, but the POL Amberlinks I've got are nearly all white except one!

Oh and Rosemary, my daughter and family are coming up for an early Christmas middle of the month, and she's asked her daughter's boyfriend if he will take some video shots of the chicks with his camera phone so I can post you some moving pictures!!!!!

I have a white "leghorn" which has now got light brown flecks on wings. My Maran hen appears to have lost a bit of her barring as new darker feathers come through. The leghorn's colouring is undoubtedly due to genetics as I always had doubts about her shape and attitude. The Maran is slightly different as her colour had begun to fade a bit. I don't really mind as she is a great layer and very much the leader of the pack.

most of mine have changed colour after their moult strange is like having new birds!

i'm glad to find out this is something normal; it's our first year keeping hens so i am always paranoid that they're not getting enough of one thing or too much of something else...
