as long as it's not too wet, and you're not compacting the soil, and it's not so cold the ground is hard, then you're OK I reckon

I think it generally wouldn't be worth the effort.

Plus snow on top actually insulates the ground, so if you ding snow in and it snows again you're locking cold inth the ground ... at a time of year when we're desperately waiting for the ground to warm up!

agree with Hamani - you will be locking in cold and wet -- no point -- can you go do something else instead ???????????????????????

I think I'll do a few other jobs for now, the snow isn't showing signs of stopping.
Thank you for your advice.

I'd keep off it as the last thing you want is compacted soil.  Be kind to your soil and it'll be kind to you  :D

Yeah, or buy some seeds. I was at Home Bargains today and they were offering potato seeds, maris piper, charlotte and king edwards for 99p per bag! Real bargain.

No, definately no!!

If you dig snow in the soil will slump and when it thaws the soil will remain sad and wet.

I definitely wouldn't interfere with your soil in these conditions.  I would seriously look at planning at this time of year - come end Feb/March you will be too busy to be planning, you can also wash out pots, get hold of seed, etc.  You can also sow onion seed on a warm windowsill.
