Well the lake has cleared up near the entrance to the site, but the soil on the plots was still too wet to work today.  I transported some over wintering plants to the GH from my garden coldframe, ready for newly sown seeds to go in.  Put the overwintering plants in a fleece tent inside the GH just in case the promised cold weather arrives.  I sowed some leeks and onion seed today and plan to do a few tomatoes and chillis in the propagator tomorrow.  I must get some paraffin asap, my last container was stolen when my shed was broken into in autumn :(

Not officially at my plot today but there in spirit, i think ive got a more final idea of thie lay out for my first year  ;) My plot became my happy place whilst stuck in an extremely boring lesson on an extremely boring course ........ yes I was daydreaming, but I now have a very detailed crop rotation plan (in between my indecipherable notes) and decided where the raspberries and blackberries will go, to start a strawberry patch, thinking of keeping it permanently and last but not least I sneakily googled a few (rather pricey) greenhouses which made up my mind - I definitely need a greenhouse! But not a £5000 one until I win the lottery, I'll have to scour the papers for a 2nd hand one for now. Hopefully the clear weather will last until I get home again :D

Sorted and tided the shed, but noticed the roof is leaking ::)
I too need a greenhouse, it would make things so much easier
Trip to garden centre to order my raspberry canes
Ordered my Hazelnut online (Gunslebert)
Weeded a little and pottered around

I would have so liked to go to the plot today but our part-time PA carer is unable to help this week so I was busy throughout the day. My planned two hour escape failed again....as it mostly does.

Perhaps Thursday and only as far as the end of the garden veg plot might be possible. Fingers crossed.

Dug 5 leeks and picked some parsley
All the way from my allotment in beautiful Derbyshire. I'm in year 3 of my allotment and wish I'd caught the bug years ago, things growing from strength to strength

Spent 2 hours on a very wet plot today. Put in the final raised bed on plot 2, manure and top soil added. Emptied the compost bin into a raised bed on plot 1 as well. Then weeded the asparagus bed.

Probably shouldn't have worked on such wet soil but I did use planks on the paths so I wasn't slipping about. I'm about 2 months behind on my plans due to the rain.

Didn't get to the plot Wednesday cos of the rain and the yesterday got delayed as had chores to do indoors. Will be going to the lottie soon today to continue with the digging and weeding on new half plot as really want to get it sorted before the cold(er) weather hits this weekend.

I went to my plot - squeak!

It was a bit 'iis this it' at first, bit scary, overgrown and rabbit holes everywhere. However, after the fear subsided I thought 'I can do this' and tried to pay the first months rent (it's a private plot) but got refused until February. The people I am renting the plot from were so friendly. I then met friendly Colin the neighbour who immediately offered me his water butts and showed me what my plot could look like. I'm inspired by the work to do, not scared. The question is...what to do first! I shall post photo's in my diary tomorrow.

At home the garlic is shooting through through the pots and rocket is coming through too, in the garden the irises I dug and split last year are showing signs of new leaves so that *seems* to be a sucess (phew).

All in all, a good day, I can't wait to get back there tomorrow.

My husband's a water sign, I'm an earth sign, together we make mud :-)

My gardening diary is here - go on, have a peek , you might be able to help me!

I built a raised bed out of old doors and filled it with the compost heap from the new plot. This will be for the courgettes/squash Also prepared the holes for the new fence post to train the fuit trees between them and managed to clear a couple of bin bags of rubbish - Where does it all come fom ???

I went down this morning (before the forecast snow hits) and I managed to break up a couple of pallets ready to edge another couple of beds. I had intended to start edging them today but it was just too damned cold out there and my nose and hands were about to drop off :( it was also far to wet and boggy to be digging annoyingly. I bet it will have warmed up and be drier in the week when I am at work

Went down to the plot this morning. It was wetter than when I was there Thursday. But managed to move some very soggy carpet and put down weed suppressant fabric on 2 of the paths. I've a delivery of wood chips arriving this week (not sure what day as yet, depends on the weather) so needed to make a start on the paths.
