Alderman peas and Climbing beans
« on: May 14, 2012, 21:16 »
I hope that someone will be able to advise if I can plant Alderman Peas next to Yellow Climbing Beans - Kentucky Wonder Wax?

Also how many peas/beans do you think I should plant per stake? One or more?

Thank you in advance :).

I grow 2 beans per cane.

As regards the peas, I use the standard pea spacing of 12 per foot.

HOWEVER! Don't expect them to climb like beans, they will not spiral around a pole or cane. They will need some thing like netting or close spaced horizontal twine to cling on to.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I am aware the peas need something to climb on. See... I am learning a bit from reading your posts regarding the peas ;).

But they are fine next to each other? :)

No problem at all, except that they may stray into each other's territory.
