Not for me to disagree with the experts as I can only speak from my personal experience.
This year I planted 20 B sprout plants and the bed was consolidated two weeks before planting with a heavy roller. The plants were staked to stop them moving and the earth drawn up around the base as well.
We have been eating the few which were starting to blow but I now have 20lbs of nice tight sprouts in my freezer.

I started the seeds in a standard tray then moved to a 3" pot, then 5" pot untill ready for going out. Planted them as deep as the first set of leaves which tends to give them extra stability. If sprouts rock in the wind they will open up like mini loose cabbages. Keep them firm to keep them tight.
