Fair point - at £1.40 or whatever they are a seed a non-germinator 3" pot of compost is neither here nort here (but I get 100% germination most years, so its moot)

For me propagator space is more of an issue - wouldn't have room for half a dozen 3" pots, the Cues get 1/3rd of a 1/4 sized seed tray and that's their lot!

A 3" pot in a plastic sandwich bag on a window sill over a radiator does the trick.
The seeds do not know it`s not a 'proper' propagator. :)

I should have said upstairs windowsill as it is warmer at night when the heating is off. :D

Mine in 3" pots popped through last night.

4 days since sowing using polythene bags. Seeds were bought 2 years ago in Wyevale's 50p sale and packets were opened last year.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

These are for a heated greenhouse. I'll sow others next month.

Just as a sidel track but can anyone recomend a variety of cuke to grow on a plot rather than in a greenhouse that is self polinating ?

Always failed miserably with them in a greenhouse for some reason
Stop food waste, pick your own fresh every day

Wozza - Marketmore is a self pollinating outdoor cucumber - available from most seed companies. I have also grown crystal lemon - not everyone likes their taste but I found them quite pleasant. Sorry but depending on your weather they are just as hard to grow outdoors as in. And  you will have to start them indoors anyway.
