My Dad used to spray are beds with DDT will we were in them,(To get rid of bed bugs) Using a Flit Spray. I dread to think what that did in the long term.
It was common to burn Pure Nicotine in the green house, a deadly poison. Plus the use of extremely explosive weed killers.
In fact its a wonder IM still around.

I was stationed on Christmas Island in the late 1950s.
Once a week the island was sprayed once a week with DDT from a plane to kill flies that plagued the island.
It didn't do us any good. Still suffering now!!!!
