If you look on ebay, you can find 50m rolls of debris netting for around 30 quid.

Debris netting?  Great idea, Pairofacres - I hadn't considered this.  Debris netting tends to be dense and dark in colour - Tell me, how does this effect light penetration?

Thanks MumofStig - very encouraging :)  I'll be giving that a go - a much cheaper alternative to enviromesh!

When i first started didnt know about all the protection most things needed.

Now i have brought everything i need for each crop i quite enjoy erecting all frames/support and relevant netting etc.

I always put it away labeled correctly for next year.

We where all new to this once, once you learn what type of protection things needs trust me it gets really enjoyable.

I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

I'm very pleased that today there was no further destruction! Our quickly built cage has worked & all is good  :tongue2:

I've found all sorts of contraptions in the sheds, bendy plastic poles, green netting & lots of wire netting, so the previous holder must have had the same problems.

I guess each crop I decide on needs to be much more carefully considered, with protection top of the list from now on.

The kids have built me a very scary looking scarecrow this afternoon, maybe she will help too
New to gardening & growing my own, its a very steep learning curve!

I have heard bunnies don't like lavender, but a sweet set of lead earrings is always good, lololol

The lavendar is a great idea, I have some at home in pots I can take, flitwickone, that is so kind of you, thank you.  I have a bit of a seed buying addiction, so have
 lots left lol.

I'm still having issues, it seems we have a deer who comes in at night, you could see where it had walked in this morning, cheeky thing, right upto the scarecrow the children made for me  ::)

I'm thinking of trying the 'grazers' liquid, it was recommended to me at the weekend, has anyone tried it before? Its not a pesticide, but it deters rabbits, deer, pidgeons etc, no smell & harmless to humans

Debris netting comes in various colours.  I went for white.

Has anyone noticed how in recent weeks Mr Fox has gone from being the cheeky rural Robin Hood to public enemy number one in the cities and towns?

From my understanding/research debris netting cuts light by 25% depending on colour and/or manufacturer. Most plants happy with 5hrs off sunshine.
I use it happily.
Dont forget though that whitefly will still get through the mesh and butterfly will get through the holes designed for trying up the mesh, so keep your eyes open!!!!!
