this may be( must be) a silly question but my other half has just asked me about double yolks, which breed of hens does it and why and how can you tell by the shell?, thankyou very much for the replys...

Any hen can lay double yolker eggs and usually it is those either just coming into lay or old hens just about finished with laying. The double yolkers are often very large and therefor not very good for the hen as they can get egg bound or the egg can break on route leading to infections

you could always trick him by opening 2 eggs and using the yolks of both and just one white
