Flea beetle trolley: This machine, recommended by Lawrence D Hills in his book ‘Grow your own Fruit and Vegetables’, may be worth trying though we cannot vouch for its efficacy. The trolley is pushed along a row of seedlings, disturbing the beetles, which jump up and stick to the greased band on the underside of the trolley. The large wheels are to prevent sideways jumping  See following website for photos.

I bags you

If you got that stiff bit of wire to low you'd have a hoe as well

No point me doing it, I don't suffer from pea beetle, the pigeons have ate everything that the beetles eat

Too complicated for my little brain. I'll skip (or should that be a sideways jump) straight to the derris, thank you. Who's at risk of jumping anyway, the beetle or the operator. And perhaps someone could come up with a bigger model to mop up pigeons, rabbits or even deer (sorry Munjac). Just wider sticky tape and even bigger wheels in case they jump sideways too !!!!  There ought to be a competition for who can come up with a new improved model.

For those peeps who can not or do not want to make a trolley try this.I have used it for years............................Coat two sides of a square of cardboard about 12" to 15" square with a sticky substance.Leaving a space to hold it.Go to the greenhouse and hold the card over the infected plants. Then gently shake the leaves and the insects will jump up and get stuck.Make sure to wear your readers if you need them, and do not be tempted to rush or to bat the fleas if you do you will get in a terrible state.
Repeat for two or three days and you will greatly reduce the problem.

Will try that cardboard trick, sounds a good one.  And I'll certainly avoid waving it around  like a mad woman    cos  I don't have the privacy of a greenhouse here, we have very open allotments with a park running through the middle.  :tongue2:
