i have recently fitted a louvre window auto vent opener to my greenhouse - works a treat, the wax expands with the heat and opens the vents, the hotter it gets - the wider they open - magic!!!

I am now going to get one for my roof vent, as the greenhouse is still getting very hot on sunny days despite shading paint and the louvre.

I wanted to know if anyone knew how one of these could be tweeked to make a door opener.  The door slides straight accross, so it would just need to stay flush and move horizontally.
Avoid fruit and nuts.  You are what you eat.

Possibly by taking off everything off, bar the piston rod and then you would have to extend the length of the rod, fix it centrally to the door and it may open a few inches but then you would have to unhook it every time you wanted to go in    Be easier to buy another roof vent I think pookey !
He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.

Thanks Richy, I suppose if it was a simple task, the gardening catalogues would be flogging them like mad!

That is the crux of the matter RR - you'd need a pantograph arrangement to get meaningful movement

Now that's getting complicated WG  :D  Still IMHO it's not gonna be worth it, after about early July I just leave the door open 24/7 unless it's bad weather.
