When my chicks were hatched my brother (called Dave) suggested I call one of the boys 'Dave' I told him I couldn't do that as I might have to eat him  . None of the boys has been named for that reason. :D

We are totally un-original, we call all our ladies chicken! We have named the cockerel, he is kevin Having a four year old around after caruthers ( my little girls chick) died we decided it was best not to give them names.

:lol:Sht face is a big bossy silkie boy, with enormous fluffy 'plus fours'. He is now very gentle and likes a cuddle (if bribed with corn first), but when he was first rescued, he pecked at me and took a chunk out of my cheek. My immediate expletive became his name, though we call him allsorts, including fluffy breeches. We have 6 cockerels (nearly all old or misfits/rescues) living happily together with 20 assorted hens. Each cockerel seems to be in love with their own little harem.  :D :D :D
Pets:if you don't love them like family, don't have them

I don't hatch from my assorted free range flock,   most of them down there are too old to lay, they just living out their retirement years. My breeding trios/quads are all in enclosed pens.  I just meant that the cockerels dont squabble over the hottest chic!! they have their own favourites

I have a big mixed flock, it has 3 mature cockerels and some youngsters, the big cochin sticks with the cochin girls and barely casts a glance at the others, Priscilla (queen of the desert) has a motely crew of his favourites, mainly the older girls, and well the the big fav boy..anything that moves really! ::) :D
