Sick Rooster...?
« on: July 06, 2009, 01:41 »
Hi,I have a bantam rooster who hasn't been acting right the past few days. He is usually very noisy (Crowing/talking to his hens) But has not been making any noise. He is eating, drinking and his poo looks normal. Any ideas of what could be wrong with my little guy?     Thanks,

What is the weather like where you are at the moment as this may affect how he feels and behaves? Any change in posture, comb colour, fullness of crop in the morning? Have you had a look down his throat just to be sure nothing is obstructing in there? Some of the more experienced peeps will be on in the morning so I'm sure they'll have some more ideas for you  :)

My vet said it was from stress... He drove in a car for almost 3 hours to get here and then not long after that I took him to my fair grounds to get checked for a disease. And the weather hasn't been good here so my vet thinks that's why. He said chickens and rabbits stress level is very low. Has anyone ever heard of that before? I mean other then that my rooster seemed very happy and healthy.

I very much doubt that the weather would cause your Cockerel to die.  Otherwise in the UK we would not have any chickens, for that matter rabbits either.
