Virtually overnight - no sign of brown patches but all the rest fine!  the dead bit is where i broke a leaf off with teh hose :( clumsy me....  Any idea please? Or is this the first sign of dying down  - they are the free ones I had from Marshalls - cant remember the name!

Have a look at the bottom of the shaw where it goes into the ground and see if it is black and slimey. If it is then it could be blackleg.
Visit my website and view my potato blog and videos.

The ones that are yellow are a bit dark and slimy at the bottom but there are still one or two green shoots that are ok form the same plant - should I pull it up anyway in case?

Believe it or not I have just this minute come in from the plot after digging up one of my potato plants that looked exactly the same as yours (a funny yellow one in a row of otherwise perfectly healthy ones) and got 7 small but very healthy spuds

I'd say dig it up as you don't want to risk infecting the rest

Did the deed and got a punnet full of medium sized spuds.  Cleared all the leaves and put for burning although when I actually dug it up the stems and roots looked fine - just yellow leaves and a few old ones at the bottom.

They were Hunters that I got free - I looked up the records from the email confirmation but that is as much as I know about them really - the others are fine in full leaf and not flowered yet so fingers crossed will get a decent sized crop in due course!

The Sarpos that I bought are now bigger than the Hunters though the Hunters shot away very fast - and the Sarpos are now in flower.  Tortoise and Hare maybe LOL

Anyway will enjoy the first of the new spuds ( I did furtle a couple of weeks ago and got about 5 babies just to try- and one of the dogs ( the girl) ate the lot while I wasnt looking!  She isnt gonna get these ..... )
