brown patches on broad beans???
« on: May 14, 2009, 20:41 »
I have just been out to check my broad beans in the grrenhouse and noticed brown patches have appeared on the leaves (they weren't there this morning!?)
does anybody know what it might be and if it's terminal?

thanks (bit of a novice at this as it's my first year growing my own!)

Welcome to the forums.

My intial reaction is greenhouse + broad beans = why?

Surely they should be outside by now. It'll be way too hot in there for them.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

it could be chocolate spot, get them outside.they are an outdoor crop and need plenty of air circulation.

I've always thought chocolate spot came later in the season - it is earlier for broad beans?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

normally mid-winter onwards.but the desrcription is vague so i'm grasping at straws for a diagnosis.
chocolate spot, is basically the fungual disease botrytis, and it has many variations.
more info needed.
