but what thickness were thay when planted out? mine are like blades of grass, certainly never got to pencil thickness. I sowed seed in May/June, I really don't know what I am doing worng, this is what happened to me last year, and they were the size of spring onions.

I sow every year at that time, Louby, this is mostly for spring harvest, they bulk up from Feb onwards more.

For earlier harvests, sow sooner, also there are bigger thicker varieties to go for if tha's what you are after.

Last year like you, " Blades of Grass" This year I have some earlies in I sowed in March and are already are as thick as those were.
