Chrysanthemums
« on: April 25, 2008, 20:49 »
Hi

Advice needed please.

I have just pricked out my chrysanthemum seedlings and planted them up to their seed leaves - I got them confused with my tomatoes!!
Well they do look similar!

Will they be OK like this, or will the stems rot.
If so I  will have to try to rescue them  tomorrow.
Have done my tomatoes too!

Thanks

Elaine

I've never tried planting mums up to their leaves, but thinking about it, I'd personally  repot them to their original soil levels. I very much doubt they put out feeder roots like toms do, and would likely rot the stems from excess moisture. I keep my growing mums to the dry side for best results.

Thank you Trillium I had a feeling you might say that.
Guess I will be replanting in the morning.
Hopefully they have not come to any harm.
